The business benefits of blogging.
Over at MattGeri.com, there’s a list of benefits of updating your blog frequently. Just the kind of thing I’m trying to persuade a few people to do right now - but from a business blogging angle. Matt talks about…
- Increased search engine traffic
- Quicker indexing by search engines
- More opportunities for monetisation
- More regular readers
- Chances to meet people
Plus one other thing that should be communicated much more as a business blogging benefit…
“You establish yourself as an expert in the field. Blogs are a great way to get your name out there on the internet. If you get posting good information people will link to your posts and you will be seen as an ‘expert’ in whatever niche you are in.”
Now it obviously helps if you do already have an expert knowledge about your niche (you couldn’t just write a few posts about neurosurgery and instantly become a niche expert). But blogging has given people with that expert knowledge a brand new way to let people know they exist.
And once people (customers) do know you exist, then they’re more likely to consult an ‘expert’ than anyone else.
So if you’re not sure about whether to start a blog as part of your business, that might help convince you.
