Y’know. When your parents both have a blog. Your grandparents. When every business you ever deal with has a blog. All your friends. People you meet in the street. Your kids. Your dog (most cats already do). Your hamster.

It could happen.

Will all that new content make it easier or harder to build a viable career in blogging. With more blogs on the web, will there be more opportunities? Or will the sheer number of blogs, and the incredible ease of setting them up make professional blogging services and consultants obsolete?

Will a greater number of blogs make it harder to find the blogs you should be reading. Or will we develop even more advanced social networking services that make it easier in response?

Will more blogs reduce potential ad revenue earnings through wider distribution, availability and market saturation of advertising space? Or will it just keep getting more and more expensive to buy advertising slots on the premium sites?

Will we even still be trying to hawk advertising? Or will there be a brand new revenue model to rely on?

Will it be harder to find (and keep) new readers? Or will a greater number of writers mean more readers for everyone?

Will we find it increasingly difficult to generate original content? Or will we all be forced to work harder at writing better than we ever have done, just to stay ahead of the competition?

Will we even write? Or will it be all podcasts, vidlogs, catlogs and doglogs?

Who knows.

But you know what the question I’d really like the answer to is? What would you see if you took one of your eyeballs out and pointed it directly at the other one.

Now that’s what’s really bugging me.

    It’s always been a mystery to me what cats see in blogs. They’re not so social to start with. And as far as sharing their thoughts go . . . well I can’t find a cat that will let me login in to read the darn blog in the first place. I’m wondering whether they’re the ones working on that new revenue model you mention. Hmmmmm. We could be left out of the picture completely.

    Actually, I worked with a Linux system guru (i.e., kooky genius) whose hamster used to blog on beer.com or beer.org or something like that. Hammy used to get emails asking him to sell the domain name. If I recall, Hammy finally did sell the domain name, nearly a decade ago.)

    I think I worked for Hammy once. He was an okay boss, a bit unfocused,not too creative, always had his head to the wheel.
